Fences is an exploration of found functional and mass manufactured materials of industry, a reflex to living and working in Manhattan, a far cry from Los Angeles. It is a reaction to free material usually pulled from large trash bins off the street, the only materials I could afford at the time. Fences is tied to notions of access, class, and blue collar work.
